This page explains how to request deletion of personal data held by Avyo, and what happens when you do. It applies to merchants using Avyo and to customers whose data a merchant has collected through Avyo (including data obtained via the WhatsApp Business Platform).
How to request deletion
Email [email protected] from the email address or with the WhatsApp phone number associated with the data, and include:
- The subject line "Data deletion request".
- Whether you are a merchant or a customer of a merchant on Avyo.
- The phone number and/or email tied to the data you want deleted.
If you reached Avyo through a specific merchant, please also name that business so we can locate the correct records.
What we delete
- Merchants: your account, business profile, catalog, and settings, and the credentials connecting your WhatsApp and payment accounts to Avyo.
- Customers: your contact details and the messages and order records that Avyo stores on the merchant's behalf.
What we may retain
We may retain limited information where the law requires it — for example, transaction and tax records, and records needed to prevent fraud or resolve disputes. Such data is kept only as long as required and is otherwise restricted from ordinary use.
WhatsApp and Meta data
Where the data was obtained through the WhatsApp Business Platform, deletion includes the copies Avyo stores. Data that resides within WhatsApp/Meta systems is also governed by WhatsApp's and Meta's own policies and deletion processes.
Timeline
We acknowledge deletion requests promptly and complete verified deletions within 30 days, unless a longer period is required by law. We may need to verify your identity or ownership of the phone number/email before acting on a request.
